Opinion: Why Portland is a Great Place for an Electric Car
Here’s an opinion piece I wrote (Portland Tribune) about why Portland is electric-car friendly–and why readers shouldn’t wait for the new Tesla Model 3 to buy an electric car!
In Portland, solar-powered parking meters, green buildings and eco-roofs abound. But we’ve got yet one more reason to brag about our city’s environmental leadership: It’s easy to get around in an emission-free electric vehicle.
n fact, in 2015, ChargePoint ranked Portland as one of the Top 10 cities for electric vehicles. And recent legislation makes it even more attractive for electric vehicle drivers—and the industry that serves them.
I know first-hand about the ease of driving an electric car in Portland, having recently acquired an e-Golf with a lowly range of 83 miles—much shorter than the range of the much-anticipated Tesla Model 3, which can cruise about 240 miles before it needs a charge. That car’s waiting list is a few years long.
But you don’t need to wait for the Tesla Model 3 to enjoy the benefits of an electric vehicle.
